Cornerstone’s mission is to support the success of our clients’ products by integrating clinical, economic and outcomes arguments into comprehensive health economic research programs of outstanding quality. At Cornerstone we understand the need for methodological rigor and the necessity of concise value messages for effective communication with internal and external target audiences.
We have an established expertise in the development of global market access strategies, as well as, the execution of cost-effectiveness models, market access dossiers and cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses in a wide range of countries. These skills have been refined during our industry and consulting experience in a diverse selection of therapeutic areas.
Cornerstone’s strengths include sound methodological expertise, a wide range of therapeutic experience, a pragmatic approach, and an understanding that research is only as good as its communication.
Partner Biographies
Daniel Grima, M.Sc.
Daniel is an expert in the development of global reimbursement strategies and in health economic modeling and analysis. Prior to co-founding Cornerstone, was responsible for development of health economic research and market access strategies at the global office of Aventis Pharmaceuticals, while supporting the oncology, anti-infectives and bone brands. This role provided important insights into the need for simplified communication of health economics and the opportunity to leverage health economic research to support product marketing. Prior to that role, Daniel was the Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research for Innovus Research where he developed studies for the Canadian, American, European, Latin American and Asian markets. Since 1994, Daniel worked on studies in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including immunology, sexually transmitted diseases, infectious diseases, ophthalmology, vaccination, oncology, respiratory medicine, rheumatology and neurology. He has presented this work at a large number of conferences and published it in a number of leading journals (see publications page). Daniel’s academic training includes a B.Sc. in Toxicology and a M.Sc. with a specialization in Clinical Biochemistry, both from the University of Toronto.
Cheryl Attard, M.Sc.
Cheryl specializes in the conduct of health economic and budget impact analyses for products in clinical development and at launch. Before co-founding Cornerstone, Cheryl spent 10 years conducting economic evaluations at Innovus Research, most recently as a Senior Manager, Health Economics and Outcomes Research. Since her start in 1994, Cheryl has had the opportunity to design and build numerous models and to work with some of the leaders in health economic and clinical research. Cheryl has worked in a wide range of therapeutic areas covering arthritis, asthma, diabetes, gastrointestinal ulcer, human papillomavirus (HPV), and lipid lowering therapy. She has presented this research at numerous corporate meetings, continuing education seminars, conferences, and published in a number of leading journals. Cheryl’s academic training includes a B.A. in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and a M.Sc. in Health Administration (Health Economics), from the University of Toronto.
Melissa Thompson, B.Sc., MBA
Melissa is experienced in developing strategies to expand reimbursement for products post launch and the conduct of health economic and budget impact analyses. Recently, her focus has included the application of health economic and outcomes research to product communication, medical marketing and sales. Before joining Cornerstone, Melissa spent 5 years designing and conducting health economic studies at Innovus Research, most recently as a Senior Manager, Health Economics and Outcomes Research.. During that time, Melissa worked in a number of therapeutic areas including arthritis, COPD, diabetes, osteoporosis, and overactive bladder. Melissa’s academic training includes a B.Sc. in Biology and Pharmacology and a MBA with specialization in marketing and finance, both from McMaster University.
